All dressed up
When we go out, we dress up, right? Or, when people come over, we make sure our house is clean and inviting. Appearances do matter and to feel comfortable in any environment, someone has to put in some effort. Except in nature, that’s perfect just the way it is.
Back to the inviting and comfortable environment. To have a calm and welcoming experience is pleasant when you’re fine and healthy. But imagine how important it is when you’re not feeling that great. When you’re a bit frightened of the medical exams or treatments the doctors are going to perform. We, at Expandable Healthcare, are well aware of that feeling and did everything in our power to make that journey as pleasant as possible.
Imagine you have an appointment for an MRI. It’s not in the hospital itself but in a mobile unit on the parking lot. A bit anxious, you follow the signs. You expect some sort of container with a wobbly staircase to get in but what you see is something completely different. A well shaped mobile unit, with its rounded corners, on ground level with an entrance just for you (patients and staff have a separate entrance to optimise patient flow). Once inside you have your own spacious dressing room and the interior feels more like a spa than a medical environment. When the staff calls your name, you enter the ‘big room’ and … although you see the MRI in the middle of it, the room itself is so comforting and warm you want to get the contactinfo for the decorators. A little side note; it’s Zijlstra Schipper architects.
So, there you have it. Everything you know about mobile healthcare, and especially the looks of it, is something for the history books. It doesn’t have to be that way. Medical treatments are scary enough as they are. That’s why the interiors of our mobile units are designed to soothe the patient’s experience of medical examinations or medical treatment. The artwork/interior is typically designed for stress reduction, to invoke a feeling of harmony and confidence in modern technology.
